a Welcome Note

I burn sage till my fingers numb
I walk firm on my path
Though the sun is a distant drum
      And hate is on warpath

Make this heart of mine, a river
      Ever flowing, grandly
Make these palms garden, cloud, slither
      tilling this earth kindly

We are fashion from the same cloth
Let's share tales, bowls of soup
Knitting common threads, cutting swaths
of hues, all in a hoop

Not sure if this meets the common meter standard as I am not so good at iambs and meter ~  Join the fun anyway when the bar opens at 3pm EST.

  1. Go to what we share instead of what we don't and end up on the warpath we won't

  2. Oh let the warpaths be overgrown... I think we need that sage...

  3. It sounds like common meter to me. I think you know how to write this better than you might realize.

I liked the idea of sharing bowls of soup and making a common hoop in the last stanza. Also I think asking the heart to till the earth kindly is the right part of us to ask to do something like that.

  7. Who is to say what meter flows through another's heart? You said it yourself -
"Let's share tales, bowls of soup
    Knitting common threads, cutting swaths
of hues, all in a hoop"

  15. Yes we are fashioned from the same cloth. People rarely see it but there we are all woven together.
