Two Sevenling poems

Sevenling (First meeting)

There are three things she recalls -
the way he laughed with her,  gentleness
of his hands & sunset unfolding in his eyes

Language is a dance of spoken
words and unspoken thoughts.  It also nests
nuances, which seems to invite a kiss-

She knew he is a keeper

Sevenling (Travelling)

In the station, we check our list:
luggages, tickets and coins
for the subway musician playing a folksy song

There are different rules for the rich -
luxury yacht vacations, private plane lounges
and special tax treatment -

We travel via rustic train, smelling earth, tasting wind-

  1. I am so deeply enamored of this line break, I cannot tell you:
"Language is a dance of spoken"

Love both of these. "smelling earth, tasting wind" indeed. Delightful. Give me a poor man's journey, any day. :)

  3. Ah, there are different ways of traveling indeed....but the result of both is a change of scenery.

  4. And I am willing to bet we are happier than those on the yachts!

  5. I think I'd prefer the train travel, myself. I would hope that whatever means of travel you take, that it would be special when your love is along for the ride. :)

  6. I adore this line: "the way he laughed with her gentleness" ... and the artwork that goes with it.

Also this: "We travel via rustic train, smelling earth, tasting wind" ... I hate trains, but I love wind.

  7. Both of these are distinctly beautiful, Grace. (line 5 of first...should it be "nests" ?)

  8. I love the sweetness of her observations during that first meeting and somehow the less extravagant way of travel seems perhaps more relaxed and fun. Enjoyed both of these, Grace.

  9. I love the line "Language is a dance of spoken words and unspoken thoughts." How much of our communication to one another is without words?

  10. Love the tactile sensations of both poems. The 2nd one is especially earthy. Well-written.

  11. Oh I love the language spoken in dance. Yes that's love. Somehow I pity the rich and what they miss in their plastic travel.

  12. "sunselt unfolding in his eyes"....now that is love. Both of these, though very different, are wonderful. Yes, I love the language line too....and I love the juxtaposition of the types of travel. Gloria Steinem, in her latest book, includes a section about the advantage of driving with a taxi driver in NY City....she chats with them and learns about the folks of the city. Seems to me the train does the same. :)

  13. I, too, prefer engaging myself to crowd when traveling, Grace. It makes me feel human having to share laughter with people I just met or I will meet along the way. Life is cool if we can do things in a more convenient way/s, but to achieve something or be able to do something in a hard way is much more fulfilling & rewarding indeed. :)

  17. Love them both but especially the second. I'd rather travel by train.

  18. Kudos for both, terrific wordsmithing all around. I kind of like the second one best; last line is killer. I think you eclipsed the title restriction on the form, but a small niche in the shininess & whimsey.

  19. This a lovely dance of words and I will try follow, friend Grace ... Love, cat.

  20. Both lovely – and I think they would work well enough with opening phrases in titles.

  21. a gentleness to the first, and a bit of bite to the second - both strong, Grace. Hope you are well ~

  22. I really love the tenderness and sensuality in your first sevenling. My heart melts :-) "We travel via rustic train, smelling earth, tasting wind-" I would much prefer this mode of travel over the other. Again, well said ,,,,

  23. I will kiss you with language and leave the yachts and the oceans speak to each other.

    Be Well Grace

  24. I really love the second one. It feels like preparation to simple adventure.
