Under the sea of stars

In the thick forest
the night is a celestial field
of stars in ribbon silver
where every tree is a nest
and moon, a dream catcher

~0~0~

Violently, we hurl
towards each other, each step
a blazing firestorm-
this is the dance of death
Until only one emerges, a new star

~0~0~

Streaking above the sky
I catch the star light
Luminous as tiny glass crystal
I feel very small
On palm of the universe

  1. Quite the dance indeed. The universe can make us feel small

  2. What a wonderful stage that first stanza sets for the universal dance of coming together. Just pure splendor.

  3. I really love how you tie it together after going through a world of supernovae into the palm of the universe...

  4. Each of these is exquisitely beautiful!

  5. Oh how incredible those last two lines are. How each poem is separate and yet how they hold together and build to those last two lines. Indeed, we all are held in the palm of the universe. Superb. Thank you.

  6. 'On the palm of the universe' - conveys so perfectly our own smallness and insignificance - and the beauty and grandeur of the universe. I also like the image of a forest in silvery light
where every tree is a nest
    and moon, a dream catcher

  7. Indeed, looking up gives us a sense of the greater perspective and our relative unimportance in the universe!

  8. I love that second stanza... we violently hurl towards each other. Such poetic thoughts, and I like how you structure your words here. Nice job!

  9. Indeed, we seem quite small compared to the majestic & vast universe. Beautifully rendered.

    Lots of love,

  13. Moon as dream catcher - wonderful! The sense of universe really comes out here.

  14. yes, all life, on starry nights, seem to instinctively look up to watch them twinkle. maybe it's because we are made from stardust.

this piece seems to capture that notion and also how tiny we are in the scope of the universe.

    gracias

  16. Very nice set of short form poems. I like the last one best. It is a stark reminder of how very small we are. Peace, Linda

  17. the last 2 lines of your last piece...that captures exactly how I feel when I lose myself in the night sky.

  18. Truly beautiful. I especially like the first stanza....."a celestial field of stars in ribbon silver"....and the moon as a dream catcher. I shall stand outside and look to the stars, thinking of these words.

  19. Oh, a sea of stars it is, Grace, and how lovely are the images you evoke in this piece. I especially like the idea of a dream

    stars on hand
