Gratitude

Source:   Page 115, The Modern Prometheus

Love,

have a care-

Work this passion

                   of its excess

Return a hundred fold:  peace

Demand

gratification

small as acorns

                   & berries

My companion will be content

with the same fare -

Our bed of dried leaves

                    & the sun

ripen(ing) our food-

  3. This is so well done, and as you picked the same page as Claudia I find it amazing that you could come up with something so entirely different..

    Demand

    gratification

    small as acorns

    & berries

Amazing.. there are quite a lot of words to choose from.

  4. Wow, same book, same page as Claudia; extra cool. I had singled out the lines Bjorn mentioned, but the whole new poem works well; nice take on the challenge.

  6. I have come from Poetry Jam so I have not read Claudia's poem yet but apparently I will read a very different one over there.
Gratitude is a great choice of words and I often hope that I will never forget to be grateful for all the beauties, even those as 'small as acorns', in my life.

  9. Exceptional, Grace. I see Patricia liked the acorns and berries line and that's just what I was going to say, too. So many gifts in those small things. Google is driving me crazy. It posts me as anonymous even though I put in my link. Arrgh.

  15. Very interesting and "Gratitude" a perfect choice of word. "Love, have a care-"
is a very impassioned and layered start to the piece. I think I'll be ruminating on that line for a while. Which is by way of saying: Great writing!

  22. The only problem with arriving late is that everyone has already said how lovely the poem is. But, it is. There is a pleasing simplicity and the peace the speaker asks for.

  27. It is a good selection of words brought together, Reminds me of that Beat era maniac William S. Burroughs and his "cut up" style. Though his work was never this tender to the heart.
