Sunset Mirror

Photographs of Sunsets as Reflected through Shattered Mirrors by Bing Wright

your face will be my mirror
not silver coated with metallic distortions
but serene with each dying light

the wingtips of gulls
above sand-stroked pavement
opens to wind & raindrops

what flaws enthrall giant trees ?
what cracks bother the blue lagoons ?
only the stone is smooth from
turbulent tides

drifting clouds see open roads,
dirt & grit of cities & small towns,
winding & reaching for last glimpse
of setting sun-

awash in pastels
my hands catch embers of fading light
& gorgeous blue sky
reflects
in my eyes

  3. wicked cool pic to go with this one grace....
the stone became smooth only in the pressure and movement
let the beauty of the world around us be our mirror
    for sure...

    happy saturday

  9. I like the idea of someone's face being a mirror. I do think sometimes if we look carefully at another's face there is something about 'us' mirrored back from them.

  10. We do get an understanding of who we are through what the others reflect of us. It is reassuring when that reflection is serene and offers no distortions.

  13. I really like the contrasts between the gritty of a town and the serene pictures of gull's wing-tips.. the strength of the poem lies in the contrasting of those images... much like a mirror can be...

  16. Beautiful writing as usual. My favorite line today is this question: what flaws enthrall giant trees ?

  17. Grace! I am so sorry--I thought it was Margaret hosting. I am going blind, I'm afraid, and don't always see things so clearly--especially on different devices. Will fix my post.

This is a lovely poem--I wish the sky could be my mirror too. K.

  20. LOVING the cracked glass pictures--went to the site, lovely photos.

How frequently the face of another displays myself TO myself (a "selfie"--grin!) and I see what was priorly not revealed to me. Sometimes--what a SHOCK!!!
Thank you for some words floating on top, with deep thoughts underlying.
    PEACE and LIGHT
