In praise

I lift my hands
Above shadows of broken things
I lift my hands
When days empty colors like sands
And every word arrives to sting
I reach for dawn, rising like spring
I lift my hands

Poetry form:   Rondelet- Seven lines with rhyme scheme of AbAabbA.

  11. I like the combination of 'I lift my hands' and the image of the statue with no arms!

  12. Such a beautiful interpretation of the photo...lifted hands from arms that cannot reach

  13. I contemplated before writing my comment...so much meaning here that my unschooled in poetry
    brain had to interpret.
Your writing is compelling to read. My thoughts wandering with the lifted hands back to my
youth where my family thought that was so "heathen". But not being able to explain why they thought
    that way ... "just because."
Thank you for the trip back to memory lane where I would presume " Hallelujuh ! " and the raising of arms would not have happened.
Your association of Hallelujuh and the photo is wonderful... I am happy I stopped by to read your post.
    Peace

  14. The perfect form for this poem of praise. I thought it was a Triolet but whatever it worked perfectly.

  21. If I write how i feel at this moment i may be overcome in negative energy and this piece does not deserve that. I should have stopped reading at shadows of broken things.

  22. As long as we always lift our hands, everything will be alright in the end :)

  23. There is so much more than the obvious here, Grace. Yes, if we just keep moving...that's the secret of life, I think...don't stop in the shadows too long. This was beautiful.

  28. So lovely Grace! I am a lover of repetition in poetry/verse, maybe all writing :smiles.
You've created this beautiful undulation of prayer/bequest/deep calling.

  29. I lift my hands… so simply beautiful a gesture - yet so hard to lift one's feelings to that level. I think the domed glass, cupped hands, and light paired with these words is perfectly combined. We choose to box ourselves in - choose to let things go. The key, I believe, is to do it daily, make it a habit! Thanks for joining the challenge.
