Skyfishing

I call in
not going to work today,
I'm going fishing instead

To where the sky opens
Blue, clear & opulent
I hook the worms
Lilies are blooming feathers
I cast the rod
Wind blasts a million jellyfish
I stoop, tugging extra string

I catch
a man wearing a business suit
& clouds
laugh along with me

  1. Very clever, Grace. Gives new meaning to going fishing. The twist at the end was truly delightful.

  2. Interesting match with the photo... the old saying that time spent fishing is not subtracted from your life. This ties so many images presented for this prompt...from the surreal to the concrete and nostalgic when in the fifth grade my brother and I skipped a month of days of school going fishing and exploring the mudflats of the Tidewaters of Virginia. Your train of mood is like the strongest line that unwinds beyond time added or subtracted or among living things time not eat or eaten that spirits share mirrors and the world.

  15. Ha ha, Grace. You poem matches the picture where all is acting out the unexpected.
Opposites attract they say so it might well come out this way some day. :) You noted
that I was laughing along with you. And I am still smiling. :)
