like caterpillars emptying
garden of ripe tomatoes, plump peppers & eggplants-
too soon, summer is coming to a close and you're not ready - you never are ready -

  1. Never ever ready, as stupid snow will come steady, turn back time or get global warming to end such a chime.

Nice cheat too, spreading out the word, I saw that lol

  7. Ah! Beautiful imagery of a coming autumn.
I am grateful that the heat of summers has finally receded here and it drizzles a bit everyday; but that is because summers are really intense here.

  8. No no, I refuse to accept that summer is over - we've still got at least a couple of weeks to go! Especially since we were waiting for it for so long.

  9. We ride the whirlwinds of wildfires, flash-flooding, heat deaths, humidity--and pine for a cooler Autumn, and then curse the dampness, grayness, chill, early ice on puddles & windshields--always looking over the fence at the next field, a box of seasons as we hop one to the other; kudos on perfect syllable count with the form.

  12. I used to hate for the summer to end in the city. Now in the country I have befriended all seasons, and the Fall is most spectacular! (Something about today makes us write about the Fall -- I did a piece earlier today on it). Lovely work, Grace, as always!

  21. Ah, but if it didn't end, I'd be longing for autumn. Us four season ladies gots to have it all.

  23. Excellent Grace. We are many many weeks from the end of summer. We breathe shallowly until mid-October sometimes the end of November. We get about 6 weeks of something that approaches a cool season - that is we can pull out a sweater or two and a coat usually just Christmas week. Really like to think of your seasons. Lovely.
