How to survive the first week

think before you print.
think green.

you envy the importance
of office printers here -
  they attract
  traffic of paper loads -

and big vending machines -
  filled with shiny cans &
  sugary goodies to hasten the
  yellowing of teeth-

you scribble with pens,
labelled with CRM program - see
you are compliant as a mouse-

remember the good side is always
the bottom line - more sales &
  working hours, counted like abacus-

you tap the keyboard & file-
mute like hanging plants above,
  green as summer blades-
  under bright lights, you

plow through the day,
  putting your aches
  in tea bags-

  8. I like my green tea. Great points to make about office activities and impacts on green, and then turn to the healing power of green at days end. Very kool commentary on the hypcrosy(sp?) of the world. Maybe. Or maybe about something else. lol I did enjoy this. My head is still in bed. Great job as always.

  9. The marginalization of real life in our so-called 'real world' is shown with strong effect here.

  12. Aches in tea bags - a most suitable projection. It all seems so much better with tea!

  14. There's nothing like a good cup of tea for the aches of the day, and the stresses of not using too much paper to get the job done.

  15. Both strain and peace in this poem. I smiled at the end it was unexpected and welcomed... can't pass up a lovely cup of green tea.

  16. If only tea would make my aches go away, I'd drink it night and day, dumb 9 to 5 haha

  19. You must tell me what kind of teabag that is. It is the most beautiful one I have ever seen. Almost worth doing office work, but not quite, hee hee. I enjoyed this one, kiddo.

  20. A weariness expressed so well - just getting through the day mute as the plants - until relief at the end of the day. K

  22. This is something to which we can all relate, I think. A fine, strong poem. Love the tone.

  23. I think you captured the feelings of so many who work in offices, going through the day in resigned compliance with the demands of their work. All could relate to your such a realistic and lovely poem.

  24. In agreement with some of the other comments I like the last stanza
    "plow through the day,
    putting your aches
    in tea bags- "
You have captured so well some of the office days that grind away at our sensitivity,,,thank goodness there is "something" that can make it go easier,,,not forgetting to stay green of course,,,

  32. ...quite unnatural, how much time we spend indoors. Recycling is good... but I'm not sure we can ever reverse the damage we do. Lovely, lovely and like above, the ending stanza is stellar!
