Waning summer

Summer Night, 1913, by Albert Bloch

its been raining for several days,
water paling streets of colors,
waning days of summer

these nights
i pour tapioca pearls in milky drink,
stirring in brown sugar with gelatin ice

sweetly predictable
on my tongue, dulled of sun spice
on my hands, white canvas

i polish the words
lush brown, blistering red,  vibrant green
into my pocket, lined with purple berries

i wait for spell of autumn

  6. Yeah autumn is much cooler and all the sights to see as you say, just let it stretch out until stupid winter goes away.

  7. Well Grace, as the bugs seem to being dying out a bit now, I won't mind if it stays right where it is for as long as, she we not be too greedy and say, the end of March? LOL

  10. Well handled colors and tastes at least for me... it was easy to conjure them in my imagination as I read. Your drink wasn't exactly to my taste though. I would prefer some kind of lime flavor if you don't mind and the waiter is still on duty :D

In the center of this poem, as in the center of the narrator/artist, is the ambrosia of warmed certainty that cuts the chill and damp among those awaiting the change of seasons. How beautiful! So I see a Duchamp moment of one woman walking . . .
