Tea cup

light reflects table
wired by laptops, phones, music
cyberspace, twitterverse news sweep
the room in tidal waves
but for this corner
where
inside tea cup of
cherry and plum blooms,
hums a monk’s prayer
dwells a river
flowing with the wind
pulsing with questions
with answers
I have yet to find

  4. Lovely, sometimes we are just best to switch it all off and give ourselves some breathing space. Loved the images inside your tea cup, peace to be found there.

I absolutely love your poem. I am an avid tea drinker, who loves to think while having my cuppa:)

  15. Ah yes, those questions to which one cannot find answers. My questions don't have answers that can be found on Google though (thinking of Fred's comment). I liked the progression of this poem and the reflections within the teacup!

  20. great contrast between searching for the answers using technology when really all we usually have to do is be still, pray, and wait a little bit.

  22. I love the escape! This is how I feel when the news over powers me. I disconnect and want the warmth and quiet stirrings of time out. Maybe I should say tea out ;D
    Great job!

  24. "dwells a river
    flowing with the wind
    pulsing with questions"

Invariably the still of day runs as the river flows leaving questions unanswered. Great write, Grace!

  28. Always so beautiful, your wonderful poet's sensibility responds so the prompt in an unexpected way, showing us a way out of the sensory overload. Important to remember sources of alternative answers in a world that supposedly promises to give us all the answers. I like this opposition that you craft so subtly and artistically.

  29. Oh, Grace!! I love the contrast from the beginning as opposed to the second half of this poem. Confusion and transcendence. Very well written!
