Broken





empty cup, gnawing 
rumbling stomach, hands dirty
black volcanic ash

dirty brown cardboard, 
chair, bed and table, pieces  
broken furniture

  1. The last line of "broken furniture" is powerful - suggesting that all the usual elements of living are broken in these little ones' lives!

  5. I like the suggestion that the 'dirty brown cardboard' acts as the table, bed, and chair for these unfortunate boys. Good description.

  9. this is def evocative for me...i have made it a point to spend time with the homeless for years now...just to be among them and hear their stories and lend a meal or an ear.
