New Year Wishes

a cheer for you
i would tow

a smile for you
i would throw

a lighter care
i would cast

a deeper love
i would catch

a harvest of words
kind and hopeful

a basket of songs
joyful and true

along sandy shores
a  journey's  peace,
this day and tomorrow

  1. This is brilliant, Grace. I love the repetitions of sound and word too. I also like the way the increasing syllable count affects the rhythm as the poem builds to its conclusion. Thanks for playing along. This is definitely a form I would like to try too.

  8. The last stanza, with its journey's peace, is exactly right for this time of year - it's that precious time in between dreams and reality I feel.

Happy New Year to you too - and thanks for visiting my site and your encouragement last year.

  19. I like your poem's tone and lyricism, Grace. The form is well thought out and flows like a dance to the last stanza, where it pauses and gives us a final "ta da" pose. :)
