Brightest Star

Mind full of my cares
Today’s errands
Tomorrow’s to do list

Hand tired, listless
Loads of my laundry to do
Multi-tasking all the time

I look up to see gloden sun
Serenely splashing its yellow light
Across blue canvas, green fields.

Reminding me of cheerful spirit
of my frail aunt, a widow
taking care of poor, abandoned
street children with laughter in her eyes
and light step in her gait

I keep still and breathe slowly
The quiet of the day
Heart warmed by brightest star

  4. One cannot help but be heartened by looking up to see the sun or the bright stars. And...your aunt sounds like a wonderful person.

  6. Oh I so loved this poem, and the inspiring story of your aunt. Yes, those are the heroes and heroines, those who maybe have little materially, but give out of the bounty of their generous hearts. People like your aunt inspire, and are my favorite kind of people. Just lovely. Thank you for this poem!
